Marga Patterson

BIO

Marga Patterson is an American artist living and working in Turkey for over a decade. Her works draw inspiration from an endless fascination with nature, archaeology, the unseen, folklore and a sense of place. Gesture and imagination form the core of her work and she develops ideas informed by visits to ancient sites throughout the country. Marga studied at the Art Students League of New York and has exhibited work in various locations, including New York and Oregon, USA as well as Croatia and Turkey.

STATEMENT

My drawings emphasize energy, focusing on feeling rather than imagery. They delve into the possibilities within unseen and imagined realms. In my sculpture work, I use wild clay and stone to craft organic forms that mirror the natural landscapes they originate from, capturing the true essence of the materials.
